UGANDA National Examinations Board has released the results of 11 primary schools in Mbarara district which were retained after the schools were suspected last year to have cheated in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
This was said by the Mbarara district Inspector of Schools, Kellen Nuwamanya, on Friday during an interview with the press at Kamukuzi in Mbarara Municipality.
"Those suspected schools in Mbarara Municipality were found innocent although a few students who were found guilty were disqualified," Nuwamanya said.
She, however, did not disclose the names of schools and pupils who cheated in the exams.
Nuwamanya said primary schools whose PLE results were released after investigation include Mbarara Municipal, Uganda Martyrs, Kazaho, Kihiguru, Rutooma Integrated, Rutooma Modern and Bubare primary schools.
The other schools are Bufunda, Kabingo, Migyera and Mabona Primary Schools.
Mbarara Municipal Primary School headmaster, James Mwesigye, said he was expecting to receive the results for his school by this Friday.
PLE results of many other schools across the country were also retained because of exam ination malpractices.
