By Justin Moro The Government is to raise sh9.84b to bridge the shortfall caused by the scraping of cost-sharing in the National Teachers Colleges, the state minister for higher education, Betty Akech Okullu, has said. Akech was on Monday meeting the students and teachers of Unyama National Teachers' College, Gulu. Students of Unyama NTC recently had a peaceful demonstration through Gulu streets, protesting the increase of the fees charged by the college administration, under the cost-sharing policy. The government later scrapped the policy. "Government is committed to looking for that money to bridge the shortfall following the abolishing of cost sharing, which has actually been very unfriendly in NTCs and PTCs," Akech said. She was accompanied by the new Gulu RDC, Musa Ecweru. Akech held an open discussion with the students and administration of the college. The students demanded for the immediate resignation of the Dean of students, Mr. Omara Orech, whom they accused of being harsh and against them. Ends
