By Ahmed Angulibo THE people of Arua and Yumbe districts through their task force chairman have assured the vice president, Dr. Speciosa Wandira Kazibwe, that on March 12, they will give presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni over 80% votes, unlike in 1996. The residents of the two districts assured Kazibwe during her rallies in the area from Thursday to Saturday last week. Kazibwe was canvassing for votes for Museveni. The residents cited Museveni's achievements in security, health, education, democracy, water, sanitation, decentralisation, empowerment of youth, women, people with disabilities, amnesty to former rebels, returning Westnilers from exile and granting Yumbe an autonomous district status as reasons for their support. During the numerous rallies and meetings with different group of people, Kazibwe told the people of Arua and Yumbe districts to give Museveni "a block vote and give him five years to consolidate his achievements." She said changing leadership for the sake of it was not good. Kazibwe said if Museveni was re-elected, programmes like building more classrooms, recruiting more teachers, and building more teachers' houses under the universal primary education (UPE) would continue. She said other programmes which would also continue included, building secondary schools with modern library and laboratories and polytechnic in every sub-county. Kazibwe said construction of health units at every parish, maintaining security and poverty eradication would continue. She said government had over sh90b for the eradication of poverty. Kazibwe, however, said many implementing agencies put the money on their personal accounts to accumulate interests for themselves. Ends
