A 25-year-old man who wedded on a Thursday was disappointed when relatives and residents boycotted his wedding party accusing him of wedding on an "abnormal day".
Only 15 of the bridegroom's close friends and his parents attended. None of the bride's relatives attended the wedding party.
Sserwanga wedded at Ndeeba Catholic Church recently and organised a reception party at his father's home Busabala Parish, Makindye. However, the reception was shunned by relatives and residents.
They argued that they could not attend a Christian wedding on Thursday instead of Saturday. Saturday is the day most people, especially Christians, wed and it is unusual that they were holding a wedding on another day.
"I cannot go to a 'bicupili' wedding party," commented one invited guest. "After all, even the bride's relatives have shunned it."
However, children who had gone to admire the wedding entourage, had a treat of their life when they feasted on the drinks and food.
