GOVERNMENT is to introduce a special loan scheme for the unemployed youths in the country aimed at creating and boosting their businesses.
Moses Byaruhanga, the national movement task force secretary, said this while addressing the youth at Zana in Wakiso district last week.
He said the scheme would be based at village/parish level and would cater for the unemployed youth, the self-employed youth like bodaboda transporters, hawkers and the wheelbarrow pushers.
Byaruhanga, said government had put in place programmes that wouldeffectively and directly benefit the youth. He cited the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES), that will cater for the youth who have completed university and other tertiary institutions.
He urged the youths not to be intimidated by political opponents but to go and vote for presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni.
Byaruhanga said maximum security had been put in place to ensure a peaceful voting exercise on the polling day.
"You should come out and vote without fear," he said.
The chairman of the youth in Zana, Kakembo Siraje, commended the government for supporting the youth.
He cited the Universal Primary Education and the proposed Universal Secondary Education as useful programmes.
Presidential elections took place yesterday.
