AFRICA will be given a chance to host international athletics meetings from next year with Kenya given first chance, the IAAF President Lamine Diack disclosed in Nairobi at the weekend.

By Reuben Olita in Nairobi AFRICA will be given a chance to host international athletics meetings from next year with Kenya given first chance, the IAAF President Lamine Diack disclosed in Nairobi at the weekend. The Senegalese, on a three day visit to Kenya said the continent has the potential, thus the need to have it host some international meetings which had been a preserve of European nations. Diack who was optimistic of being re-elected the International Amateur Athletics Federation President said he had enough experience to lead the global body having been its Vice President since 1976. He witnessed five time world cross country champion Paul Tergat beaten to third place by surprise package John Korir Cheruiyot during the 7th Energizer/IAAF Permit National cross country championships.
