Arap Moi Salutes Museveni On Polls Victory

PRESIDENT Daniel Arap Moi of Kenya has congratulated President Yoweri Museveni upon his re-election for another five-year term.

By Anne Mugisa PRESIDENT Daniel Arap Moi of Kenya has congratulated President Yoweri Museveni upon his re-election for another five-year term. In Washington, the Ugandan embassy is also flooded with congratulatory messages to Museveni and the people of Uganda on a peaceful and successful election. Moi said Museveni's victory was an indication of confidence in the Movement government by the people of Uganda. "Kenya looked forward to consolidating the relationship between the two states through the East African Community," The Daily Nation yesterday quoted Moi as saying. The Ugandan Ambassador to Washington, Ms. Edith Ssempala, said the congratulatory messages to Museveni came from Ugandans and friends of Uganda in the United States of America. The messages wish Uganda continued progress, Ssempala said. In Kampala, congratulatory messages continued to pour in from districts, prominent individuals and organisations. Premier Apollo Nsibambi commended Museveni for "massively regaining political legitimacy." Ends
