Police arrested a man who beat up his wife and daughter over misplacing his voter's card.

By Isaac Kiyingi Police arrested a man who beat up his wife and daughter over misplacing his voter's card. Musoke of Mbogo Zone, Kawempe, accused his wife, Sarah, of denying him the right to vote. Sarah said her husband had given her his card to keep together with hers. On Sunday evening, she was called from the garden where she had gone to get food for supper. "My daughter came to the garden and said her dad was calling me. When I got home he asked for his voter's card. I looked for it on the table where I had kept it but in vain," she said crying. "When I told him I could not find his and my card, he slapped me three times on the cheeks. After that I went and checked in all the places I thought I may have kept them but in vain," she lamented. "When I told him I had still failed to find them, he got angrier. He got two sticks and canned me all over the body. My daughter said she had seen him removing small pieces of paper like voters' cards from the table. He turned on her and beat her up also. We were only saved by passers–by," Sarah said. The girl then accused her father of taking the voters' cards from the table and unfairly beating them. The people then grabbed him and beat him up, too. He was saved by the Police. The whole family was taken to Kawempe Police Station to make statements. Musoke was later detained in jail. Ends
