By Peter Ekarot NILE Football Club opens a unique soccer academy today at new-look Kakindu stadium in Jinja. The unique project is backed by Nile Breweries Limited and Global African Football, according to NBL chief executive director Henry Rudd. "The opening of Nile FC soccer academy will be a brainstorming session where 52 headmasters are invited and other stake-holders in the game in Uganda will be present. Essentially we want a youth soccer culture to take root and Nile FC to stand on its own feet," Rudd said. "We want a big investor like Manchester United to take interest in the young talent groomed for professional status," said Rudd. He also mentioned that soccer academies that groom talent benefit in the lucrative transfer system, and they want to link Nile FC soccer academy to counter-parts in UK. "This is a pilot project for others to follow. Our major aim is to help develop Uganda's soccer," added Rudd. Ends
