'Kakuru takurirwa'! You cannot beat your elder!

SIR-It is difficult to beat an incumbent because he tends to be more known, more popular, more loved and has a lot more to show for his cause than the new contenders for the presidency. I recently travelled to many rural areas and found out that most of them knew only Yoweri Museveni. This is to be blamed on poor civic education. Col Kizza Besigye was deceived by the crowd that merely came to see what he looked like but not to support. Also he was deceived by the loud but small number of supporters in Kampala, Masaka, Jinja and may be the north. He should therefore note the following: - One's vote can change overnight. - Better the devil I know than the angel I do not. - "Kakuru Takurirwa"(You cannot beat your elder).
