Besigye Supporters Flee From Arua Town

THE Arua Municipality Mayor, Mr. Saidi Nasur Okuti, has said the residents who had supported former presidential candidate, Col. Kizza Besigye, are hiding in their homes and some had escaped to Kampala and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kizza Besigye, are hiding in their homes and some had escaped to Kampala and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Okuti, said this on Monday while addressing a rally at the Arua new Taxi park. He said following the arrest of nine Besigye's supporters by the UPDF, after the presidential elections many residents feared for their lives. Okuti, said some of the nine Besigye's supporters who were arrested were the district task force advisor, Mr. Jafar Alekua, the secretary for publi city, Mr Kelvis Kaza and Ali Musa. He said they were arrested by the UPDF for allegedly inciting "innocent people to confront president Yoweri Museveni's camp, when they were celebrating their candidate's victory in Arua on March 14."
