By Douglas Mazune CHIPPER Adams yesterday powered his Mitsubishi Evo5 to victory in the Royal Birthday rally. Chipper put up a flawless display in the rough sections of Mityana to beat national champion Charlie Lubega (Mitsubishi Evo4) by about 10 minutes. Fan favourite Chipper clinched his second victory of the season and now leads the NRC standing on 200 points-10 points clear of Lubega. Lubega suffered two punctures in the first section that saw him slip to fourth position midway the rally. He however recovered to displace determined Kuku Ranjit from second position. Lubega who was seven minutes behind Kuku, swept the last two sections to edge Kuku by about two minutes. Giovanni Storchi in his Lancia Integral came fourth while Nadim Lalani, Kasozi Ssekalala and veteran Godfrey Katende were fifth, sixth and seventh respectively on road. By press time last night, cars that were scheduled to finish at Bulange, Mengo were still in Mityana. Former national champion Moses Lumala who returned to his old Toyota Celica ST 165 after his newly acquired Toyota Celica ST 185 crashed, was forced out by mechanical problems in the first section. The MOSAC organised rally that is the third round of the NRC series was sponsored Hima Cement, Total and IT Solutions. The rally started with a super special stage at Lubiri Saturday where Lubega snatched the lead, after Chipper who had come top, suffered a 10 second penalty for jump starting. Ends
