By Robert Kanusu ONE suspected thief was lynched and others escaped leaving behind all the property they had allegedly stolen, when an angry mob ambushed them. The gang of about six with a herd of goats and hens, brought suspicion which led residents of Nawangoma village to mobilise and ambush them. When the gang sensed danger, they escaped leaving the animals behind. However, some were identified and residents started to hunt for them up to their homes. Balyejusa Paul, wascaught and when his house was searched, property that included gumboots belonging to a farmer in the village, dozens of saucepans, sacks of beans and chicken, which were thought to have been stolen were recovered. The mob then charged at him with stones and clubs and killed him in the process. By press time, the other thieves were being chased. Ends
