By Joyce Namutebi KASESE MPs have accused the army of failing to protect the people during the March 17 attack on the town. The MPs appealed to President Museveni to set up an independent probe into the attack in which 10 people were killed and at least 54 vehicles burnt. MPs Kithende Kayeboga (Bukonzo East), Christopher Kibanzanga (Busongora South), Kule Muranga (Busongora North) and Loice Bwambale (Woman) yesterday questioned what went wrong with the deployment around town, there being "heavy presence of UPDF in Kasese within close range." "The only mamba (battle track) we had in Kasese did not even release a single bullet when the attackers were vandalising the town," Kibanzanga told a press conference at Parliament House. They attacked health minister and Bukonzo west MP Dr. Crispus Kiyonga for diverting the security organisation and implicating those innocent. Bwambale said RDC Zedekia Karokora should be removed from Kasese because he was part of the conflict. She said the Kasese MPs, including Kiyonga, should all be investigated. Kiyonga told Parliament on Wednesday that the attack "was generated and executed by a group of disgruntled politicians who wanted to use the ADF as a cover up." Ends
