Students of Nkumba University have requested President Museveni to consider the best students there for employment.

By Josephine Maseruka Students of Nkumba University have requested President Museveni to consider the best students there for employment. The students said the government does not recognise Nkumba University like it does to other tertiary institutions in the country. The students made the remarks recently at a victory party for the Museveni Task Force at Vogue Discotheque in Nkumba. The chairman of the University Task Force, Alex Katende, said 62.3% of the electorate at Nkumba voted in favour of Museveni. He commended the students for exhibiting maturity by voting wisely despite the university being privately owned. Katende appealed to the government to look into the exorbitant tuition which had led to the drop out of many students before completing their courses. The students appealed to Museveni to extend loan facilities to those who cannot afford to pay tuition as a way to encourage self-sustenance. The chief guest, Mr. Kidega, who is also the National Youth Chairman hailed students for shining out of the 13 universities in Uganda by voting for Museveni. He told students that the government fully recognises Nkumba University's contribution to the development of the country. Kidega said, "I am one of the students from Nkumba University and I am what I am because of this institution. "Do not think Nkumba is not recognised. You are such a giant but again you must work harder to be recognised," he said. Ends
