By Joyce Namutebi and Jude Etyang BUSINESS came to a standstill in Owino market yesterday when former presidential candidate, Col. Kizza Besigye and his special campaigner, Al-Hajji Nasser Sebaggala, had lunch in the area. Besigye and Sebaggala, who attended the hearing of a petition against the March 12 poll results in the morning at the High Court building, visited Owino in the afternoon where they were received by the former- elect Besigye task force chairman, Ssalongo Mukasa Nkata. They both ate posho and matooke served with meat at Maama Rehema Namazzi's restaurant as a crowd of supporters waited outside. The excited crowd which braved the scorching afternoon sun, chanted campaign slogans and songs, as the two had their meals. Also present was Betty Kamya, former Besigye publicity chief. This was Besigye's second visit around Kampala after the presidential elections. Besigye first visited Nateete on Saturday where he thanked his supporters for giving him their votes. Besigye defeated President Yoweri Museveni in Kampala. His supporters are now referring to him as their "president." In a brief speech, Besigye said "they were still strong and had many plans as the struggle continues." He filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the election results. He wants the polls nullified and Museveni's victory declared invalid. Hearing began yesterday. Ends
