Ugandans will be in Manchester

UGANDA has entered only seven sports disciplines in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester City.

"We have entered only seven disciplines that beat the deadline for registration," said Gabriel Oloka, Secretary General, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC). Entered are athletics, boxing, rugby, table tennis, netball, weightlifting and rifle shooting. The tennis, archery, swimming, cycling and hockey associations did not respond. UOC vice president Moses Twesigye-Omwe was elected chairman of the Commonwealth Games preparatory committee. Meanwhile, the UOC commissions of media, marketing, medical, legal, sports for all, library, women in sport, award merit, athletes and academy will be inaugurated on Tuesday. Ends
