SECURITY at all sub-county headquarters and police posts in Masindi district has been stepped up following the ambush that left 12 people dead in Murchison Falls National park last week, reports Kyetume Kasanga. Mrs. Betty Adima, the RDC and district security committee chairperson, confirmed the deployment of more troops. Suspected LRA rebels last week ambushed a van carrying students and staff of Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering, Kampala. They were on a guided tour of the Gulu side of the National Park. Adima regretted the incident but said intelligence personnel had been deployed to track down the attackers. By Wednesday, there was no reported contact between them and the UPDF. Addressing LCs and local government staff on Tuesday, Adima appealed to them to be vigilant and guard against acts of insecurity. She said unnamed people last week defiled a 15-year old school girl before murdering her. She was in senior one at Masindi Secondary School. Ends
