SLUM Aid Project (SAP), has launched an eight million shilling project to construct public toilets in slums in Kampala on a commercial basis.

By Kizito Malumba SLUM Aid Project (SAP), has launched an eight million shilling project to construct public toilets in slums in Kampala on a commercial basis. Mrs Diana Opolot, the acting SAP project co-ordinator said this on Wednesday while closing a one-day gender sensitisation workshop for key community volunteers in Kampala slums at Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe. The project is to be implemented in Nakulabye, Naguru II, Katwe I and Wandegeya slum areas in Kampala district. The project mainly focuses on domestic violence and slum vices like prostitution. Mrs Opolot said the project would provide emergency relief fund for victims of domestic violence. She said under the project three public toilets are to be constructed in Kampala. Mrs Opolot said under the SAP project, each slum will have four tap water points constructed to provide clean water for the better health of the community. Ends
