Buikwe MP Attacks Mengo

By Nicholas Kajoba The Member of Parliament for Buikwe west, Anthony William Kanyike, has attacked Mengo officials for blaming the press for publishing news that the Nabagereka is pregnant. Kanyike was addressing members of Buikwe county media bureau in Lugazi town on Thursday. He blamed the Buganda government for being conservative in this mordern era of development. "We must know issues in our kingdom. if our Nabegereka is pregnant we are entitled to know as Baganda. this issue of doing things in back door then later the press brings them out and you provoke them is useless," he said. the New vision and its sister paper Bukedde recently carried a lead story that the Nabegereka was pregnant which received furious response from some Mengo government officials. The Mengo minister of culture, Omutaka Kayira Gajule and some Baganda traditionalists, demanded an apology from the New vision for allegedly embarrrasing the Kabaka and the Nnabegereka over the latter's pregnancy.
