LAGOS - Women's soccer, softball and boxing for the first time plus the addition of three other sports will make the 2003 All-Africa Games in Nigeria one of the biggest yet. Executive director Amos Adamu Wednesday said badminton, chess and squash have been added to the programme. "Women will also be competing for the first time in the football, softball and boxing events, while powerlifting and table tennis have also been added to athletics in the disabled sport," he said. Tennis and rugby are not being played at the Abuja Games, which will now have 21 sporting disciplines. Representatives of the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA), the Union of Sports Committees in Africa and Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa approved the new schedule after a two-day meeting in Abuja last week, Adamu said. ends
