THE Horizon-KCC match was abandoned yesterday when fans attacked and beat FIFA referee Haruna Kebba after he awarded KCC a penalty at Kabale Stadium.
Police intervened to rescue Kebba who sustained deep cuts to the head from the attack on 40 minutes. The confusion lasted 30 minutes but the match never resumed.
Horizon had taken the lead after 20 minutes through Geoffrey Sserunkuma. Then Kebba awarded the penalty after goalie Ismail Kayondo clashed with KCC striker Gibby Kalule as they both went for the ball.
Horizon assistant coach Charles Ayiekho said: "FUFA should get cameras to scrutinise these incidents."
At the King George VI stadium, Mbarara United went top of the table after beating Rock Star. Substitute Erick Alivre's 87th-minute goal earned Mbarara victory.
Rock Star defenders thought Alivre was offside, but assistant referee Salim Sultan, who had put up his flag, lowered it after referee Yahaya Kitti allowed the goal amidst heavy security deployment.
The match stopped for about five minutes as the home side players protested to the match officials.
At Kanyike stadium, SCOUL's lone goal came on 55 minutes through Robert Kabanda off a right flank cross from skipper David Kiwanuka.
Rhino missed a golden chance as Bob Obira fired wide from close range.
