By Davis Weddi THE Police Court has recommended dismissal of two of the four Police officers of Rubaga Police Post, arrested over corruption. The order was made by the Police chief, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala. Detective Sgt. Epola, the former O/C CID Rubaga Police Post, was found guilty of soliciting a bribe of over sh700,000 by the Police Court which sat at Police headquarters. He was sentenced to dismissal from the Police Force. Epola's junior, detective woman constable Akot, was also sentenced to a dismissal on Monday after she was found to have been directly involved in receiving the bribe. The court, however, acquitted detective Police constable Okello after he was found innocent. Mr. Atepo, the second in charge of the Police legal department, said assistant inspector of Police Akabwai, former O/C of Rubaga Police Post, was convicted, reprimanded but found to have had a clean record and attained good military training. According to Atepo both of the dismissed officers have appealed to the Police Council Appeals Court. This is the highest court in the Police Force. The dismissal is pending approval of the Inspector General of Police. The arrest and prosecution of the Police officers came after a complainant rang Wamala, saying the Police officers who had arrested their father, Hajji Nuru, over alleged defilement of his housemaid, were asking for money to release him. Katumba then ordered the Police complaints desk to set up a trap in which the four officers were arrested and charged in the Police Court. Ends
