KAMPALA Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) beat compatriots Makerere University in a thrilling ECAVCO club championship game at Lugogo yesterday.
The year 2000-volleyballer Musa Wantante, Bob Ewange, Mofaht Masaba, Sam Meya and Tito Toma spurred KAVC to 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15 victory.
Uganda Breweries sponsored MUK had given KAVC a fright in the second set, but lacked the stamina to last, though Tony Lakony and Sam Okello were impressive. This was MUK's third straight loss after GSU and Mugher defeats.
Seven-time champions Kenya Commercial Bank notched their second straight victory beating compatriots General Service Unit 25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 19-25, 15-8.
Ethiopia's Mugher beat late arrival Tanzanian's Jeshi Stars. The women's action between KAVC and KCC was on by press time.
Kenya's Mukumu Girls make a maiden appearance today on arrival against KAVC. The event ends on Sunday.
