By Davis Weddi The Police yesterday recovered one vehicle and seven forged registration number plates at St. Anne zone in Kabowa, a suburb of Kampala. The vehicle, a Toyota Prado registration number UAB 420H was commandeered from its driver identified only as Kim on Saturday on Ggaba road, Kampala by four armed men travelling in a white Toyota Corona, Kampala Police Chief Ahmed Wafuba, said. The Prado had been registered with Tracker Uganda Ltd. who were notified soon after the robbery at 10:30pm Saturday. Tracker Ltd. then embarked on a search for the vehicle and notified the Police as soon as they discovered where it had been hidden by 5:00am yesterday. "During the initial search of the premises various number plates, car windscreens and tools specifically used for number plate replacement were recovered," said a statement from Tracker Ltd. This is a second vehicle recovered through Tracker Ltd in a month. A Pajero belonging to the Ministry of Finance was also recovered in an operation in Nateete, also leading to recovery of property robbed from a Sabena Airways manager. Wafuba said the suspected robbers fled from Kabowa in St. Anne Zone where the vehicle was found, a few moments before Police broke into the premises. The suspects fled by jumping over the perimeter fence behind their premises, leaving behind their few properties. An LC1 executive of the area, said the suspects had rented the premises for the last eight months but their stay in the area had become a matter of suspicion, as they were irregular residents. Wafuba urged city residents to report any suspicious neighbours to any security agency so that they are investigated. Ends
