Muhanga contests for Kabarole woman seat

Twelve candidates have been nominated for the three parliamentary seats in Kyenjojo district, reports Emmanuel Mulondo.

Twelve candidates have been nominated for the three parliamentary seats in Kyenjojo district, reports Emmanuel Mulondo. Eleven were nominated for the four seats of Kabarole district including the former New Vision reporter, Margaret Muhanga. Kyenjojo district returning officer, Muhenda Rujumba, on Friday said incumbents Tom Butime (disaster minister) Clement Kandole and Aston Kajara were nominated for Mwenge north, Kyaka and Mwenge South respectively. Butime's rivals are Steven Kananura and Gaston Maliiro, the district finance secretary. Kajara's rival is Dora Byamukama for the Mwenge South seat. Kandole's rivals are Solomon Balinda and Badru Katongole. Those vying for the Kyenjojo woman parliamentary seat are Harriet Kagaba, grace Byabazaire, Martha Nkurunzinza and Lucy Musinguzi. In Kabarole the incumbent Apollo Karugaba, the assistant RDC, Araali Basaliza, Bob Muzinduki and Asaba Ruyonga are vying for the Fort Portal municipality parliamentary seat. Kisembo Muleju and Capt. Steven Basaliza are vying for the Burahya county seat, while the Kabarole district woman seat is being contested for by Muhanga and the incumbent Beatrice Kiraso. In Kamwenge, Molly Kyalimba, Aida Muhangye and Florence Mugisha are vying for the woman parliamentary seat. The incumbent, Capt. Charles Byaruhanga, Dr. George Mugisha and Wilson Sankara are vying for the Kibaale county seat Meanwhile the 24-year-old Noor Byamukama went through unopposed for the Kitagwenda parliamentary seat after the incumbent, Dr. Fabius Byaruhanga, the state minister for animal husbandry, failed to beat the deadline for nomination.
