SOUTH African Schalk Burger won the Zimbabawe Dunlop Challenge -the third Africa Rally Championship (ARC) event- to stretch his lead for the 2001 title to 21 points.

Burger, driving a Subaru Impreza, clocked 3 hours 27 minutes to reap maximum ARC points on Sunday after success in Namibia and South Africa, Zimbabwean Hannes 'Barefoot' Cruger is second in the title race. Zambian Munna Singh also in a Subaru Impreza finished second, 7.47 minutes behind Burger. The crew of 16-year old Conrad Rautenbach navigated by his father Billy Rautenbach, a former Africa champion in the 1980s, came in sixth. No Ugandan entered the event that reigning champion Satwant Singh also skipped. Ends
