By Jude Etyang THE victim of an acid attack has testified from her bed in Mulago Hospital that a neighbhour was among her attackers. Kusula Nakimera, a housewife of Wagala village in Mukono, said her neighbour SarahNantume and another unidentified man showered her with acid twice. The second round was poured in her eyes as she tried to identify them. She told court presided over by the Mukono Chief Magistrate, Elizabeth Alividza, that she was attacked at 7:00pm as she warmed food for her children. She said she was carrying her two-year-old son on the back. The son was also burnt. "I felt something had poured on my back which was very hot and when I turned, I saw Sarah and the man who was following me. When I tried to look at them properly, they poured it in my eyes," Nakimera who was talking with difficulty said in Luganda. Nakimera and her three year-old son, Wasswa Serwadda were injured in the attack and are admitted to Ward 2b in Mulago Hospital. Their faces are deformed beyond recognition. Prosecution says that on November 15, 2000 at Wagala village, Nantume attempted to murder Nakimera and Serwadda. Nantume, a rural farmer, was further remanded to Luzira Prison until June 18, when the case comes up for further hearing. Ends
