Suresh Amlatlal Ghelani, a Kampala accountant and businessman, dragged Ekemu to the Law Council alleging that in March 1999 he (Ekemu) received sh30,108,300 from the Solicitor General on his behalf and used it without his authority.
Ghelani is asking for disciplinary action against Ekemu for unprofessional conduct and requested the council to recover his money with interest and costs.
Ghelani said the High Court awarded him the money as interest on a principal sum of over sh200m after winning a civil suit against the Government.
Ghelani said after obtaining an order from the High Court, he approached Ekemu as a friend in September 1996 to use his influence as a former AG to quickly collect the money from the Solicitor General on his behalf.
Ghelani said he promised to give Ekemu in return one of his buildings situated at Plots 73-75, Gweri Road, Soroti, once he obtained thae money.
He said in March 1998, Ekemu asked him for a formal letter authorising him to obtain themoney from the Solicitor General, which he willingly issued to him.
He said on September 24 and November 3, 1998, Ekemu wrote him letters confirming that the payment was forthcoming but later said it had not been made.
