Manzi Denies Supporting Besigye

By Grace Matsiko THE State Minister for Finance, (Privatisation), Manzi Tumubweine, has denied sponsoring former presidential candidate, Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye. Tumubweine now contesting for the Rukiga county seat (Kabale) said in a statement yesterday that his support for President Yoweri Museveni and the Movement has never weakened. "I have learnt that Mr. Jack Sabiiti (his rival for the seat), said that during the presidential elections, I was sponsoring candidate Col. Dr. Besigye. This is false and utter nonsense," he said. Sabiiti is an under secretary in the justice ministry. Tumubweine said Sabiiti knew he (Tumubweine) was a serious supporter of Museveni's candidature. "In fact this was stated by me several times before nomination," Tumubweine said. He said Sabiiti belatedly showed his support for Museveni much later. Ends
