Buganda Road Court magistrate, attorney charged with corruption

By Jude Etyang BUGANDA Road Court magistrate Charles Kisakye and a State Attorney, Scola Nafuna were on Thursday charged with corruption and remanded to Luzira Prison over a sh1m bribe. Kisakye and Nafuna denied the charges before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Catherine Bamugemereire. Court workers and relatives of the two jammed the courtroom. Nafuna allegedly solicited and received the bribe on behalf of Kisakye from Pauline Bangirana, a court bailiff as an inducement to grant her favourable bail. This was at Colline House on Pilkington Road, Kampala among other places, according to the charge sheet. Kisakye said the charges were an abuse of the court process. The two were not allowed to apply for bail as the court lacked jurisdiction. Ends
