Pandemonium broke loose during a burial at Kasambya in Luweero district.
This was when a group of men who had gone to attend a burial of their colleague fought for food.
The youths had earlier forced the villagers to bury their dead colleague before the
planned time.
"It was a group of very disorganised young men, who came to attend the burial from Kalerwe.
As soon as they arrived here, they disorganised the whole place," a resident said.
He explained that the young men grabbed the body from the relatives, took it to the grave and buried it without even praying. They disregarded any pleas from the dead man's relatives to conduct a decent burial.
The dead man was said to have been one of the leaders of a lumpen group in Kalerwe.
"As soon as they finished the burial, they came back to the compound and started demanding for food.
"Give us food, we are going back home now, give us food." they shouted.
Before people knew what was happening, they grabbed one of the meat saucepans, picked some plates and served themselves. They then climbed back onto their pickup and drove back to Kampala.
The group is still talk of the town in Luweero. Why they were not handled firmly and thrown out by the people of Luweero is a mystery!
