6 teachers axed over poor skills

NYERO Rock High School in Kumi district has dismissed six teachers over alleged incompetence and defiling girl students.

By Chris Osekeny Jamu in Kumi NYERO Rock High School in Kumi district has dismissed six teachers over alleged incompetence and defiling girl students. The chairman board of governors, Mr. Joash Olupot, said the teachers failed a competence test organised by the academic board chaired by a retired regional inspector of schools, Mr. Raphael Opeede, assisted by a senior educationist and headmaster of Ngora High School, James Akabwai. The headmaster of Nyero Rock High School, Mr. Kokas Atinyang, the teachers were fond of inciting violence and strikes in the school. He accused one of the teachers of defiling several girls taking advantage of being a teacher. He was dismissed with disgrace. Others expelled include John Bosco Okwi, Robert Otai, George Odeke, Okiria Okiria and Patrick Okwi. The affected were Grade Five teachers. Ends
