OPINION leaders and lower council officials in Mpigi town council have appealed to government to intervene and stop the wrangles

By James Bakunzi OPINION leaders and lower council officials in Mpigi town council have appealed to government to intervene and stop the wrangles now rocking the town council. They said the wrangles between the mayor, Lumu Mazuuku, his town clerk and councillors have stalled the council's work for development. The entire council resigned last month and demanded that Mazuuku resigns as well. The councillors and the town clerk, David Kiwanuka, have always complained that Mazuuku had frustrated the council by imposing his dictatorial tendencies on them and the technical staff. They told the New Vision that the local government minister should help the wrangling factions to compromise and embark on developing the town council. The LC5 chairman, Levi Zzimbe, said the wrangles were disappointing. "We have tried to advise the warring parties to reconcile but the advice has not been taken," he said. Ends
