By Edith Kimuli A TOTAL of 33 former Joseph Kony's LRA ex- captives expected home last week failed to return because of lack of transport. The deputy UNICEF representative to Uganda, Kari Egge, said the ex-captives could not fly from Khartoum to Nairobi because there were fewer seats on the plane they were scheduled to use. She said they could come home this week because the plane from Khartoum to Nairobi flies twice a week. Egge, other UNICEF officials and officials from other non-governmental organisations waited at Entebbe International Airport for the ex-captives in vain. officials from the gender ministry were also present. UNICEF had also chattered a plane to fly the ex-captives to Kitgum district. "The problem is that their families are waiting for them in Kitgum, we have to communicate to them as quickly as possible," Egge said. She said officials of the International Organisation for Migration never informed them in time. "We are sorry it happened like that," she told the New Vision at the airport about 20 minutes after the plane in which the children were expected landed. The plane arrived at 9:10am. A total of 17 children and 16 adults, were expected back home when they get transport. Ends
