UNRF11 Rebel Boss Writes To Museveni

UGANDA National Rescue Front Part II (UNRFII) rebels from Rojo, southern Sudan, have reportedly arrived in their Uzogodri peace camp in Yumbe district with a letter for President Yoweri Museveni.

The Aringa-Obongi peace initiative committee chaired by Col. Nasur Izaruku has been coordinating the peace process between UNRFII rebels and the Government since December 1998. Sources in the committee told The New Vision on Tuesday in Yumbe that the rebels arrived with the letter on June 27. The UNRFII commander-in-chief, Ali Bamuze, wrote the letter in reply to Museveni's earlier letter. "The rebels have arrived with the letter. We have informed State House about it and we expect people from there to come and receive the letter. But they have not communicated to us when they will come," the source said. sources said Capt. Ndahura, the acting military assistant to Museveni, Col. Hussein Ada and the UPDF camp commandant in Bombo delivered Museveni's earlier letter to Bamuze. The 409 brigade commander, Lt. Col. Fenecacious Mugenyi and Yumbe district security officials held a meeting last month with the rebel commander, Maj. Ismail Andi, at Uzogodri and he promised to follow up the reply to the letter from their high command. Ends
