By James Bakama SATURDAY'S 3000-meter World Youth Athletics Championship final proved too fast for Moses Mpanga, Uganda's last medal hope. Mpanga, who together with javelin thrower Patrick Kibwota were the only Ugandans who made the finals in the four-day competition, finished tenth in eight minutes 23.04 seconds. Ethiopia's Geneti Markos took the gold ahead of 15 runners with a new championship record (7:55.82) in a fast race that had the top nine finishers all registering personal best times. Kenya's David Kilel took silver in 7:56.95. He was followed by a teammate James Kwalia in 7:57.71. Mpanga could have done better given that his time was 6.84 seconds outside his personal best. Uganda sent a team of six athletes to Hungary led by 800m star Mary Bacia(800m). Ends
