ONE of the suspects in the murder of Prince Happy Kijanangoma was one of John Katuramu's strange guests hosted at his farm, reports Edith Kimuli.
Milton Tumwesige, a former driver with Radio Toro, told court yesterday that Alex Twinomugisha was one of the three strange men he found at Katuramu's farm in Rwenkuba the morning after the murder.
Tumwesige, who was arrested in Mityana after several months of Police search, said Mr. Ernest Nkoba, the radio manager, sent him to the farm to find out whether there were visitors there.
He said he found three strange men whom farm manager Rose Kyakyo told him were Katuramu's visitors.
Tumwesige said Twinomugisha told him to ask Nkoba to send them fuel. "Nkoba gave me money and I bought 40 litres of fuel that I took to them," he said.
He said he went with two men, one of whom he knew as Silver, and the other, a stranger.
Tumwesige said as he left the farm, situated off the Mubende-Fort Portal Road, the five men told him to drive them to Kampala while Kyakyo ordered him to do what the men had told him to.
He said one of the men, who later drove the car to Kampala, grabbed the car keys from him.
Tumwesige said when they reached Kampala, the man took the car away from him. "I reported the matter to Mr. Katuramu, whom I found at his office at Uganda House, but he said the men would bring back the car," Tumwesige said.
He said the car was taken back to Fort Portal by the Queen Mother's brother after two weeks but he was told to drive it back to Kampala and he has never seen it again.
Tumwesige identified Twinomugisha to Justice J.B. Katutsi who is trying the case. Katuramu, Twinomugisha, and three others are charged with the the 1999 murder of Kijanangoma.
