DAVID Fisher over the weekend won the Entebbe Sailing Club Fishing monthly contest sponsored by radio and Satellite Communications of Kampala.
Fisher together with Arthur De Mello caught the biggest catch, a Nile Perch weighing 22.5 kilograms. Lawrence Harcourt finished runner-up after catching a Nile Perch that weighed 19 kilograms while Charles Thom caught a 17-kilogram Perch.
The full day event attracted five boats, with competitors going all the way to Kami and Ssese Islands while others went to the Entebbe Rocks.
The event started under conditions that were ideal with calm waters in the morning and light seas during the afternoon.
Participants who talked to The New Vision said that it was however not a very good day in the water.
They expected to catch bigger fish, but due to the weather the catch was minimal.
Shalom won the best boat category with Candy and Sea Duck finishing second and third respectively.
Radio Communications Services’ Edward Musajjakawa said they are interested in sponsoring the event again next year.
The Entebbe Sailing club will tomorrow host a Monthly Mug Sailing contest.
The record catch at the Entebbe club is 114 kilograms registered by Du Plessis and Arthur De Mello in 1999.
