BUGANDA Road Court yesterday ordered former Kampala mayor Al-Hajji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala to return his passport to court, reports Hillary Kiirya. The order was made by the Grade One Magistrate, Lydia Mugambe, who is hearing the case. Sebaggala had appeared in court to answer charges of inciting people not to pay graduated tax. The State alleges that in February at Kansanga KCC primary school, as a special campaigner for former presidential candidate Col. Kizza Besigye, Sebaggala ordered people not to pay Graduated Tax as Besigye was going to scrap it when elected president. There were no witnesses in the court yesterday and the case was adjourned to August 20 when the witnesses are expected to appear in court to give evidence. Earlier evidence before the court given by State witnesses, showed that Sebaggala did not order the people not to pay Graduated tax. Sebaggala requested the court to produce the remaining witnesses before August 20 so as to enable him go over his trial before he goes for studies. However, the presiding magistrate said that she would be going for a course beginning early August up to late September. Sebaggala was ordered to return the passport by 4:00pm yesterday. However, when contacted to find out if he had returned the passport as directed, Sebaggala’s lawyer, Caleb Alaka, said he did not know if his client had returned the passport as ordered by the court.
