SAMIA Bugwe North MP Aggrey Awori is to move a motion seeking to restrain government from selling Nile Hotel and the International Conference Centre (ICC) writes Milton Olupot.
In a motion for Private Member’s Bill seconded by MP Persons with Disabilities Eastern, James Mwandha, circulated to MPs yesterday, Awori said it is expedient for the State to retain 100% shareholding in Nile Hotel and ICC Ltd.
The complex was in the early 1990s sold to Tunisian’s Tahar Fourati who failed to pay up. The Bill seeks to amend the statute to transfer the hotel and the conference centre from class II to class I enterprises and make it fully owned by the State.
