Onito leads Northern in inter-regions

LEGENDARY Sadi Onito who has just returned to action after over one year’s absence will feature for Northern region in the Inter-regional golf championship this weekend.

By Douglas Mazune LEGENDARY Sadi Onito who has just returned to action after over one year’s absence will feature for Northern region in the Inter-regional golf championship this weekend. Onito (h/c 3) and his sons Charles Yokwe and Renatto Sebbi who had been forced out of the sport by a busy work schedule in Jinja are expected to propel the region in the 18-hole competition at Kitante course August 11-12. The annual Uganda Golf Union event is sponsored by Kampala Casino. The firm is expected to inject in the event over sh11m. Northern region captain John Waigo is optimistic the Onito family that was on the team which won the 1999 edition would bring success. “They have recorded impressive scores in training at Kitante despite the long absence and I think we will do well,” Waigo said. “We even have many good young players.” The region will also look to Jinja Golf Club’s teenage stars Dennis Anguyo (h/c 5) and Brian Tolit for success. Richard Tucker a South African resident in Kampala is one of the 40 players to feature for Northern. They face Eastern, Western and defending champions Buganda region. The draw was conducted Tuesday night at Uganda Golf Club. Ends
