Onek To Defend Self On Nationality

By Okello Jabweli and Joyce Namutebi A petition challenging the citizenship of Lamwo County MP, Hillary Onek, has been filed in the High Court. The petitioner, Dr. Anthony Okullo, who lost the Lamwo seat to Onek, says that the MP is a Sudanese, who should not have been nominated for the elections. This is the first petition challenging an MP’s citizenship nationality. The Paramount Chief of Palabek Kal and Palabek Gem, Rwot Alfred Odoch, 46, yesterday led a group of seven elders and Onek,s relatives from three sub-counties in Lamwo County to defend him. Onek on Tuesday said the allegations were baseless. He said “I have contacted my lawyers, Katende and Sempebwa to follow up the misinformation intended to tarnish my image.” Ends
