By Ebenezer Bifubyeka PAUL Bakyenga, the Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese, has commissioned the five-year Rushooka community water project worth sh128m. It was launched at Rwamanyonyi protected water springs in Ntungamo district. Launching the project, whose construction was completed last month, Bakyenga urged the two beneficiary parishes of Ruheza and Kabashenshe to avoid religious differences while sharing “this precious piped water.” “Religion is useful to the community. Church people have saved you from scarcity of water. Therefore, residents should be responsible for the maximum protection of the main tank and an engine at the source of the project,” he said. Shortly after blessing the source of the water, in Rushenyi county, Bakyenga appealed to the Government to extend electricity to the area so that the engine can operate smoothly. According to the project manager, Patrick Mpamwire, Ntungamo contributed sh24m towards the project. A German NGO, Franciscan Brothers, contributed sh104m.
