By Patrick Oyee THE Lira Municipality MP, Mrs. Cecilia Ogwal, has blamed senior UPDF officers over the prolonged rebellion in the north. She said the army seems to have a hidden agenda against the people of the north and that was why the northern conflict could not end. Ogwal was last Friday briefing the German ambassador, Klaus Holderbaum, who made a courtesy call on the mayor, jasper Omodo Anyuro, at Taj palace. Ogwal wondered why the war had taken 15 years yet when the UPDF went to the Democratic Republic of Congo , they crushed the rebellion there within months. Anyuru said the security situation in the municipality was worrying. He cited the recent killing of a VHH primary school pupil and an attack by armed thugs at his residence. But the army spokesman, Phinehas Katirima, told The New Vision on phone that, the allegations were not true and it was the work of opposition with malicious intentions.
