Mbarara Municipality councillors have attacked former parliamentary candidate, Ngoma Ngime for not turning up at a reconciliation party.

By Ebenezer Bifubyeka Mbarara Municipality councillors have attacked former parliamentary candidate, Ngoma Ngime for not turning up at a reconciliation party. The LC3 chairperson for Kamukuzi Division, Sam Rubasimbira, said Ngime was creating permanent enmity instead of uniting residents of Mbarara as a Resident District Commissioner. He said the reconciliation party was a land mark in Mbarara and was intended to institute clear leadership. On Saturday evening, a party spearheaded by the district chairman, Fred Kamugira, was held at Fort Caleb near Mbarara town, to reconcile parliamentary candidates and their supporters. But Ngime sent his chief campaigner, John Kigyaji to represent him. “No sooner had Kigyaji started reading Ngime’s apology, than guests including MPs and councillors started shouting and booing until he stepped down.” Kigyaji said, “Ngime has apologised for not attending this party because he still has a case in court to answer.” Mbarara Municipality MP, Winnie Byanyima, did not attend the party. Her chief campaigner, Hajati Nuriat said Byanyima was in Soroti to address an anti-corruption seminar. Rubasimbira advised Ngime not to develop enmity over his recent parliamentary loss saying that was not the end of the world.
