By A. G. Musamali FORMER president Dr. Milton Obote warned the Uganda People’s Congress Presidential Policy Commission (PPC), prior to their Saturday meeting, not to throw out Dr. James Rwanyarare as chairman of the commission. The Lusaka-based Obote said on Thursday the move would play into the hands of the National Resistance Movement. However, he warned Rwanyarare to be more serious with party duties. Obote was reacting to press reports that the PPC planned to remove Rwanyarare for incompetence. Rwanyarare has denied the reports. But in a confidential letter sent to the PPC, Obote said the press story implied that there was a group within the PPC which had resolved to remove Rwanyarare. He said the group’s intention was to make UPC abandon the fight against the NRM dictatorship like Celia Ogwal has done since 1996. Ends
