By Eddie Ssejjoba THE Police in Masaka on Thursday night raided the home of a prominent businessman in Nyendo town and impounded an assortment of human drugs that were being manufactured in a small factory and sold to pharmacies and drug shops in the area. The Masaka District Police Commander, Mr Steven Kasiima, told The New Vision that security men raided the home of John Baptist Mutebi and impounded sacks of manufactured drugs and others still in the making together with equipment and raw materials used to make them. He said Mutebi, who was away at the time of the raid, had turned his house into a small factory. He said the Police acted on a tip-off from citizens who learnt about Mutebi’s suspected dubious deals. The Police arrested a 16-year old boy found in charge at the factory. The boy had refused to open the house for security personnel to enter. Among the exhibits were already packed capsules and other tablets for various ailments. Tins with potassium labels, saucepans and plastic containers were used to mix the drugs which were packed in plastic bottles. Some products were ready for sale. The Police are still investigating the manufactures’ connection to drug dealers in Masaka whose contacts were found amongst Mutebi’s documents. Kasiima warned residents against buying drugs from unauthorised shops and individuals.
