BID CONDITIONS:
1. Books and/or periodicals should indicate discount from publishers' price as indicated in Publishers catalogues.
2. Also, you should indicate how costs relating to the following are to be arrived at: -
a. Packing/ handling
b. Insurance
c. Freight by Sea or
d. Freight by Air
e. Cost Insurance and Freight (C.I.F).
3. The method of payment for Text Books is to be by letter of Credit through Bank of Uganda. Periodical subscriptions are to be paid for in a manner agreed upon by Makerere University and the agent. Makerere University expects journals to be consolidated and dispatched to Makerere by Air, about four (4) times a year.
4. The consolidators operation should have a large premise to operate from and be highly computerised so as to be able to generate proforma-invoices, invoices, packing lists and quarterly text book orders supply status.
5. The consolidator should have experience in supplying large volumes of books to Africa especially in East Africa. Addresses of Universities, and Institutions the applicant is currently supplying should be given for reference.
6. The applying company may choose to apply for supply of both Text Books and periodicals or any of them.
7. The following information needs to be given OR noted:-
a. Name and address (postal, physical location, telephone, e-mail, fax) of the firm/company.
b. Type of entity
c. Year of entity
d. Names and particulars of directors/ shareholders.
e. Attach certified copies of the following:
(i) Certificate of registration/ incorporation.
(ii) Trading licence.
f. Pricing should be in US$ dollars or U.K. Pound Sterling (£)
g. Names of your bankers
h. Late submission will not be entertained.
i. The University does not bind itself to accept the highest or any Tenders.
Submissions of Bids
1. Offers should be submitted in sealed envelopes distinctly designated on the right hand corner, "Bids for supply of Text Books and/or periodicals to the University Book Bank".
2. Prospective tenderers are required to pay a non refundable fee of US$50.
3. All bids should be delivered, registered and deposited in the Tender box in Purchasing Office, Main Building Room 210 not later than noon, Wednesday, 31st October, 2001.
