LOCAL Government minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali has accepted the creation of six new sub-counties in Kitgum district, the LC5 chairman John Bosco Oryem said.
He said new sub-counties will create employment opportunities to the many youth in the district, who completed studies but are unemployed.
Oryem said the sub -counties are Omiya-Anyima, curved out of Namokora sub-county, Lagoro from Kitgum-Matidi, Akwang from Labongo-Layamo, all from Chua county.
Others are Padibe East and Padibe West, Palwong from Madi-Opei and Ogili from Palabek-kal, all from Lamwo county.
Meanwhile the Kitgum chief administrative officer, Alfred Ocen Lalur, has said the district is aiming at strengthening the managerial capacity of the various sub-county staff so that the district develops uniformly.
Ocen said most of government and donor funds will be channelled to the sub-counties for development purposes according to their priorities.
Last year the district lost two sub-counties to the new district of Pader created alongside six other districts.
